Saroj Kanta Barik, Ph.D. Dr. Saroj Kanta Barik is Professor of Ecology at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, India. His research group works on such diverse ecological issues as biodiversity conservation, resistance and resilience mechanisms of ecosystems, molecular ecology, conservation biology of threatened flora, natural resource management policy and livelihoods, community forestry, climate change and carbon sequestration. He has successfully completed several research projects sponsored by international and national agencies such as UNESCO, Ford Foundation, IFAD, ICIMOD, MacArthur Foundation, CIFOR, and Department of Biotechnology and Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. He contributed substantially to the development of participatory Natural Resource Management Systems in north-east India during the past two decades. Since April 2009, he has also been working as National Chief Technical Adviser to the Indo-German Natural Resource Management Project, Tripura. |
